lucky I got what I want
Starting with absolute chaos and mayhem, the rendered space takes a sudden 180 shift into complete order with structure and organization enforced. This 3D Modeling and Motion animation render reveals the inner turmoil within us as the world unexpectedly fell into a world-wide pandemic due to the spread of COVID-19. There was a loss of control as everything surrounding us was falling apart; as order was created, it seemed isolation was the only way to prevent further damage.
——
It’s funny how we crave disorder and wish that we could get a break from life and now that we got what we wanted, nothing feels right. How ironic that I’m lucky I got what I want, but this this isn’t what I meant.
Thought Process
What are we working towards and what is the end goal? It’s interesting how we wake up everyday to the same events, yet each day only goes the same way once and never again. The repetition of the space indicates the way we live the same way each day over and over again until it almost becomes a cycle like the way we go to work in an office the rest of our lives and the same way we go home and follow a set routine throughout a day. This 3D animation was made to capture that sense of being alone together in an unending cycle.
Renders & Testing
Through creating 3D models using the program AutoDesk MAYA, I was able to play around with different surfaces and textures to create the final rendered animation.
360° Virtual Reality
I created a 360° experience of the space to give the viewers the feeling of being trapped in an encompassed area without an exit. During most of quarantine, I was living alone in my apartment in LA and this was how I felt for majority of the time. I was disconnected from the world and trapped in a bubble where these mundane objects was the only thing keeping me company. This VR experience gives others a feel for this isolated feeling being in a confined environment.
Finalized Renders
Chaos.
Order.
Cycle.
